SIBLEY—A 32-year-old Lakefield, MN, woman was arrested about 12:55 a.m. Saturday, June 20, on Osceola County warrants for third-degree kidnapping, willful injury — causing bodily injury, false imprisonment, fifth-degree criminal mischief and obstruction of community communications.
The arrest of Candi Jo Rethwill stemmed from a March 13 incident, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Rethwill allegedly kidnapped a Reading, MN, man at his home and brought him against his will into Iowa in a 2002 Honda Accord.
She then assaulted him in Sibley, causing serious injuries.
His cellphone was thrown from the vehicle at some point.
Complaints were filed April 16 and warrants were issued April 17.
Rethwill was delivered to the Osceola County Jail in Sibley by a deputy with the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office.
