SANBORN—A Melvin 18-year-old was cited Monday, Jan. 13, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia following an investigation into a crash four months ago.
The citation of Hunter Nicholas Lee Noerenberg stemmed from a crash about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, according to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
Noerenberg told authorities he had entered the ditch in the 5900 mile of 280th Street about six miles northeast of Sanborn, becoming lost and driving around in the cornfield.
Once out of the field, Noerenberg turned south on Silver Avenue and went into the ditch again on the 2800 mile about five miles northeast of Sanborn.
Noerenberg asked an investigating deputy to get his wallet from the center console of his 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
The deputy found a glass pipe with burned marijuana residue, cigarette papers, a hand-held torch and a straightedge razor blade in the vehicle.
Noerenberg also was cited for failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
