MELVIN—A 29-year-old Mason City man was arrested about 3:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, near Melvin on charges of third-offense operating while under the influence, driving while his license was denied or revoked and operating a motor vehicle without a required ignition interlock device.

The arrest of Kyle Dwayne Strohman stemmed from the stop of a westbound 2007 GMC Canyon pickup following reports of erratic driving on 220th Street about four miles northeast of Melvin, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Strohman had bloodshot, watery eyes; impaired balance; slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary sobriety tests.

The trooper said it was apparent Strohman had no idea where he was going as he thought he was heading away from Sioux Falls, SD, and wanted to go to Everly, according to the incident report.
