ROCK VALLEY—A 22-year-old Rock Valley man was arrested about 8:35 p.m. Monday, July 19, on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault resulting in injury or mental illness.
The arrest of Juan Orlando Orellana-Diaz stemmed from an investigation into a disturbance at 909 Main St. Lot 6, according to the Rock Valley Police Department.
A woman there told the officer she had been struck three times in the leg with a cellphone charger cord by her boyfriend, Orellana-Diaz, during a verbal disagreement that turned physical, according to the incident report.
Orellana-Diaz admitted to striking the woman with the phone charger cord.
The woman was examined by the Rock Valley Ambulance crew but refused further medical care.
