SIBLEY—A 21-year-old Akron man was arrested about 5:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence and contributing to the delinquency of a minor north of Sibley.

The arrest of Paxton Michael John Giedd stemmed from the stop of a 1990 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the northbound lane of the Highway 60 expressway near Highway 9, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Giedd had bloodshot, watery eyes and failed preliminary sobriety tests.

He admitted to smoking marijuana right before he left home about one hour before the stop, according to court documents.

Giedd also admitted to providing marijuana to a 17-year-old male passenger. The juvenile admitted they shared the marijuana pipe that was in the pickup.
