SIBLEY—A 39-year-old Sibley man was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault — injury or mental illness, assault with intent to inflict serious injury and assault on persons in certain occupations with intent of injury.
The arrest of Dustin Lee Gust stemmed from an argument with his wife “over his drinking problem” at their residence at 206 Fourth St., according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Gust allegedly struck her with his open hands and struck her with a door while she was in a doorway multiple times, according to the incident report.
He reportedly fled the scene but was located moments later by a deputy.
While attempting to ask Gust what had occurred, he started to get agitated and refused to comply with commands and stated he would get his dog to attack the deputy, according to the incident report.
Gust was handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle, but then started to head butt the window and yell profanities.
In an attempt to calm Gust, the deputy opened the door and Gust kicked the deputy in the lower body, according to the incident report.
A no contact order was issued against Gust with his wife.
