ROCK RAPIDS—A 64-year-old Sioux Center man was arrested about 2:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, on charges of supplying alcohol to a person under legal age, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of an open container of alcohol as a passenger in a vehicle.
The arrest of Mario Martin Martin stemmed from the investigation of a 2009 GMC Acadia in the ditch on the 2100 mile of Highway 75 about five miles south of Rock Rapids, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Martin Martin supplied Corona beer to a 16-year-old male after purchasing it at gas stations in Sioux Center and Rock Rapids, according to the incident report.
The 16-year-old became intoxicated, resulting in him crashing the vehicle, in which Martin Martin was a passenger.
He was arrested on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, possession of alcohol under legal age, failure to maintain control, no valid driver’s license, failure to provide proof of vehicle liability insurance and failure to carry a registration card.
