ORANGE CITY—A 40-year-old Sheldon man was arrested about 10:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, on a charge of first-offense operating while under the influence south of Orange City.

The arrest of Pedro Chilotillo Lario stemmed from a deputy stopping to provide assistance to a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee parked on the traveled portion the southbound lane of the Highway 60 expressway about four miles south of Orange City, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle matched the description of one reported as being driven erratically.

Chilotillo Lario was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle while several people were walking around the Jeep.

Multiple open containers of alcohol were observed in the vehicle, including Corona bottles and a whiskey bottle.

Chilotillo Lario had bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary field sobriety tests.

He urinated in his pants while sitting in a deputy’s patrol car, according to court documents.

Chilotillo Lario was arrested for OWI while five passengers — Marianao Lucas, 27, Jose Juarez, 21, David Angeles, 23, Jesus Rodriguez, 23, and Luis Lopez, 22, all of Worthington, MN — were charged with possession of an open container of alcohol.
