LARCHWOOD—A 21-year-old Larchwood man was arrested about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and first-offense possession of a controlled substance — psilocybin mushrooms.
The arrest of Braedyn Carl Meffert stemmed from a deputy looking for a tenant on Brown Street in Larchwood regarding a driving complaint, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy observed a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country van parked on the street next to the tenant’s residence.
As the deputy approached the van, Meffert, who was driving it, got out and told him they were there to pick up the tenant, according to the incident report.
The deputy started talking to the passenger, 28-year-old Kayla Janae Rhoadarmer, in the van and noted a strong odor of marijuana.
When questioned about drug activity, Meffert and Rhoadarmer handed over marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms that they said belonged to Meffert, according to the incident report.
Meffert was arrested and Rhoadarmer was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
