PRIMGHAR—A 27-year-old Iowa City man was arrested about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, near Primghar on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, possession or carrying dangerous weapons while under the influence and possession of an open container of alcohol as a driver.
The arrest of Cody Robert Ginger stemmed from the stop of a 2010 Mazda MZ6 for erratic driving on the 3500 mile of Highway 59 about three miles north of Primghar, according to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
Ginger had bloodshot, watery eyes; slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary sobriety tests, according to court documents.
An open can of beer was in the center console and an open case of beer with four cans remaining also was found in the vehicle.
Two handguns also were found within reach of Ginger in the car.
