PRIMGHAR—A 34-year-old Sheldon man already in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar faces another charge.
Brandon Lee Nelson was charged with assault on persons in certain occupations — intent of injury after he assaulted a corrections officer while in the jail about 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, according to the criminal complaint filed by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
It is the second time he has been charged with assaulting a corrections officer while in jail in the last month.
He was charged previously after he repeatedly punched the jail supervisor in the head shortly before noon Tuesday, Nov. 2, according to another criminal complaint.
Also, on Aug. 14, he broke off a fire sprinkler head in his cell at about 12:35 a.m. The damage to the sprinkler resulted in the release of a large amount of water and jail officers found Nelson covered in black soot from the initial release of water from the sprinkler head, according to the incident report.
Nelson is in jail due to a variety of burglary, theft and other charges following his activities Aug. 10 in Sheldon.
