Road closed sign

PRIMGHAR—A project to remove the bridge on U.S. Highway 59 south of Primghar in O’Brien County will require closing the roadway to traffic beginning Monday, April 5, until Oct. 26, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office.

Motorists will be detoured around the work zone by taking 390th Street (B40) to Taft Avenue (L54).

Peterson Contractors Inc. of Reinbeck was awarded the $2.23 million contract that includes installation of new box culvert and roadway paving.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.

As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
