LARCHWOOD—A 33-year-old homeless man was arrested about 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, in Larchwood on charges of fourth-degree theft and two counts of fifth-degree theft.
The arrest of Kelly Lee Petersen stemmed from a report of “a suspicious male” at the Larchwood Quick Stop, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Petersen was found sitting in the seated area in the back of the store going through a purse that did not belong to him. He was found in possession of a silver metal wallet belonging to a woman.
Petersen also was found in possession of a laptop computer and a checkbook belong to a Dell Rapids, SD, man. The items had been reported as being stolen on Jan. 8 to the Moody County Sheriff’s Office in South Dakota.
