IRETON—A 19-year-old Hawarden man was arrested about 4 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, on a charge of first-offense operating while under the influence in Ireton.

The arrest of Sergio Esequiel Mendoza stemmed from the Hawarden Police Department investigating an accident in which Mendoza’s 2009 Jeep Wrangler struck a parked vehicle on the 700 block of Main Street.

Both vehicles were disabled.

Mendoza admitted he has been consuming alcohol, according to court documents.
