HAWARDEN—A 46-year-old Hawarden man was arrested about 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, on a charge of second-offense operating while under the influence.

The arrest of James Conrad Bensen stemmed from the stop of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado on the 1100 block of Central Avenue, according to the Hawarden Police Department.

Bensen had bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. He failed preliminary field sobriety tests, according to court records.
