HAWARDEN—A 45-year-old Hawarden man was cited about 4 a.m. Sunday, June 21, on a charge of first-offense operating while under the influence.
The citing of Nicolas Ramos Alvarez stemmed from an investigation into an accident near the intersection of Buchanan Avenue and Highway 10, according to the Hawarden Police Department.
Ramos Alvarez was driving south when his 2006 Toyota Tacoma went into the west ditch and came to a stop with the front end of the pickup in Dry Creek.
He does not remember what happened or how he got there, according to court documents.
Ramos Alvarez admitted to having several alcoholic beverages and he had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
