HAWARDEN—A 33-year-old Hawarden man was arrested about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, July 13, on a charge of first-offense operating while under the influence in Hawarden.

The arrest of Max Nathaniel Scull stemmed from an officer observing a 2005 Dodge Stratus being driven erratically on Highway 10 before coming to a stop at the intersection of the highway and Central Avenue, according to the Hawarden Police Department.

The officer could smell alcohol on Scull’s breath and he admitted he had drunk about five shots.
