HAWARDEN—A 36-year-old Hawarden man was arrested about 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a nonregistered vehicle.
The arrest of Christopher Leigh Heuer stemmed from the stop of a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse for an expired plate, which was shown to be registered for a 2005 Pontiac G6, at the intersection of 11th Street and Avenue F in Hawarden, according to the Sioux County Conservation Agency.
Heuer had red, glossy eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage.
He consented to a search of his vehicle, according to court documents.
A glass pipe with meth was found in the center console and a bag containing marijuana was found between the driver’s seat and the center console.
