HAWARDEN—A 22-year-old Hawarden man was arrested about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault, child endangerment and violation of probation.

The arrest of Anibal Bernabe Martin-Lopez stemmed from an investigation of a domestic incident in which the victim, a woman, was at the emergency room at Hawarden Regional Healthcare, according to the Hawarden Police Department. The woman had blood on her nose and face.

Martin-Lopez allegedly hit the woman and dropped her baby, which was being check out by a doctor.

An officer found Martin-Lopez at his residence on the 700 block of 11th Street, where he was found with blood on his shirt.

It was discovered there was a warrant for his arrest out of Sioux Center.

A no contact order also was issued against Martin-Lopez with the woman.
