HARTLEY—A 42-year-old Hartley man was arrested Wednesday, July 8, on O’Brien County warrants for third-degree burglary and unauthorized use of credit card under $1,500.
The arrest of Christopher Joe Collins on the burglary charge stemmed from a Feb. 10 incident in Hartley, according to court documents filed by the Hartley Police Department.
Collins was caught on a home video surveillance system taking multiple items from the living room/bedroom area, including $800 in cash, two sentry safe lockboxes, identification documents, vehicle documents, electronic and storage devices, Marvel comic books and jewelry.
He also allegedly used a stolen credit card to purchase merchandise from a Casey’s store in Sheldon on May 13, according to court documents filed by the Sheldon Police Department.
Warrants in the two cases were filed in early June. The arrests were made by an O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
