'Gone Cold'

“Gone Cold: Exploring Iowa’s unsolved murders” is an ongoing collaborative effort by Iowa news organizations to revisit some of the most brutal and mystifying homicides in Iowa’s history. The N’West Iowa REVIEW is presenting some of Iowa’s unsolved homicides in the hope that it will lead to new tips and potentially help solve cases.

“Gone Cold: Exploring Iowa’s unsolved murders” is a yearlong collaborative effort by Iowa news organizations to revisit some of the most brutal and mystifying homicides in the state’s history. The N’West Iowa REVIEW is presenting some of the unsolved homicides in the hope that it will lead to new tips and potentially help solve cases. The Jan. 16 issue of The REVIEW features the case of Willard Woodring, 42, Keokuk, and Richard Buchanan 49, Colona, IL. They were found bound, gagged and shot to death in the Hawkeye Hotel in Keokuk on Oct. 9, 1960.
