'Gone Cold'

“Gone Cold: Exploring Iowa’s unsolved murders” is an ongoing collaborative effort by Iowa news organizations to revisit some of the most brutal and mystifying homicides in Iowa’s history. The N’West Iowa REVIEW is presenting some of Iowa’s unsolved homicides in the hope that it will lead to new tips and potentially help solve cases.

“Gone Cold: Exploring Iowa’s unsolved murders” is a yearlong collaborative effort by Iowa news organizations to revisit some of the most brutal and mystifying homicides in the state’s history. The N’West Iowa REVIEW is presenting some of the unsolved homicides in the hope that it will lead to new tips and potentially help solve cases. The March 5 issue of The REVIEW features the case of Martha “Marty” Erickson. The 47-year-old Avon woman was killed on her way to a dance on Nov. 21, 1995. Her body was found in Avon Lake the following day. She had been beaten and stabbed.
