GEORGE—A 33-year-old George man was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, no valid driver’s license and failure to provide proof of vehicle liability insurance.

The arrest of Jose Martin Escalon Bautista stemmed from the stop of a 2003 Chevrolet Impala for erratic driving at the intersection of East Calumet Avenue and Kennedy Avenue in George, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Escalon Bautista had bloodshot, watery eyes; impaired balance and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary sobriety tests.

He admitted to having seven beers, according to the incident report.
