LARCHWOOD—Four people face charges following the stop of a 2015 Buick Encore for speeding about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the intersection of Highway 182 and 180th Street, about four miles south of Larchwood.
Nineteen-year-old Roberto Cruz-Cespedes of Sioux Center was arrested on charges of three counts of driving while suspended and speeding, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
Cruz-Cespedes additionally was arrested on a Sioux County warrant for failing to appear in court on the charges of forgery, second-degree theft, stalking, harassment and violation of a no contact/protective order.
Nineteen-year-old Andrea Garcia of Sheldon, a passenger, was arrested on a charge of first-offense possession of a controlled substance after she was found to be in possession of a liquid THC vape cartridge and pen. She also was cited for possession of alcohol under legal age.
Two other passengers, 21-year-old Maria Elena Garcia of Sheldon and 18-year-old Alejandro Abundes of Sheldon, were released on citations for possession of an open container of alcohol as a passenger and first-offense possession of alcohol under legal age, respectively.
Cruz-Cespedes and Garcia were transported to the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids.
