March marks the start of preschool registration in Sheldon.
East Elementary Preschool, Noah’s Ark Preschool and His Little Ones Preschool all open registration on Monday, March 1, with Sheldon Christian School’s Kingdom Kids Preschool starting registration on Thursday, March 4.
Preschool is open to children who will be 4 years old by Sept. 15 and tuition for all four schools is free.
East Elementary Preschool plans to be in a different location for the 2021-22 school year.
Preschool classes currently are held in a room at the Children’s World day-care center attached to East Elementary but for 2021-22, East Elementary Preschool will move to 105 N. 18th Ave., which is the former Fantasia Etc. and Autism Community Transition Center of Village Northwest Unlimited building.
East Elementary principal Jason Groendyke said the hope is to have the new preschool building ready to go in mid-August.
“The plan is to have the preschool building renovated and ready to welcome students at the start of the 2021-22 school year,” Groendyke said. “This may be a lofty goal and the time frame is tight, but right now we are really hoping to have the building ready at the start of the new year. Everyone involved is excited for this opportunity and our hope is to see our programs grow in the future.”
The old Fantasia Etc. building will be a major upgrade for East Elementary Preschool. It will provide the preschool with its own space and multiple classrooms to use.
“It will be really nice. A larger building, classrooms, more opportunities for our students and staff,” Groendyke said. “In the past, space has been an issue and with moving into this building, we will be able to serve our students better and meet their needs.
“We are thankful for our current space and for the day care’s willingness to let us educate our students in their facility but we are excited to have something we can all our own.”
Since East Elementary Preschool is moving locations and because of the coronavirus pandemic, registration will be online this spring and available March 1-15 at www.sheldonschools.com. Hover over the parents’ tab and click on preschool registration. A packet of information also is available at the East Elementary office if needed.
Information needed for registration includes a birth certificate or proof of date of birth, up-to-date immunization record, a physical exam from a doctor, bus transportation information, a home language survey and race ethnicity form and a migrant form.
“Of course, parents may always contact the elementary school,” Groendyke said.
Sheldon Christian School will hold an open house for upcoming preschoolers and kindergartners 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4.
Parents and children may take a tour of the classrooms, meet the teachers, play games and enjoy ice cream sundaes.
There are three ways to register for Noah’s Ark Preschool.
The first is the in-person registration at Noah’s Ark Preschool 5-6:30 p.m. Monday, March 1. Parents also may call 712-631-0010 or e-mail email@example.com.
Noah’s Ark also may be taking registrations for nursery school class. Children must be 3 years old by Sept. 5.
His Little Ones Preschool will not be doing an in-person registration this year due to COVID-19.
To register for His Little Ones Preschool, go to stpatrickscatholic.onlinejmc.com and click on new enrollment. If assistance is needed or for parents who would prefer a paper copy, stop in the St. Patrick’s Catholic School office.
