HULL—Iowa Department of Natural Resources staff on Thursday morning, Sept. 19, investigated a fish kill reported late Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Rolling Hills Country Club golf course north of Hull.
Preliminary information indicates the fish kill occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 17, or earlier in an unnamed tributary of Burr Oak Creek in Sioux County.
DNR staff have ruled out multiple pollutant sources, but did not find a cause of the fish kill, according to Scott Wilson, supervisor of the DNR’s field office in Spencer.
The DNR asks anyone seeing a fish kill or an obvious pollutant to notify the local field office or call the 24-hour spill line at 515-725-8694 immediately.
Wilson said the earlier DNR is notified, the easier it is to trace the pollutant source.
