LARCHWOOD—A 22-year-old Brandon, SD, man was arrested about 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort northwest of Larchwood.
The arrest of Reed Jay Van Den Top stemmed from a 2007 Pontiac G6 failing to stop for a stop sign as it pulled out of Grand Falls Casino onto Highway 9, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy observed a THC vape cartridge in talking with Van Den Top, the driver, and Van Den Top admitted to having additional drug paraphernalia in the car.
A probable cause search of the vehicle located a wooden marijuana dugout containing marijuana, THC vape cartridges, burnt marijuana blunts, a glass multicolored marijuana pipe containing marijuana, a marijuana bong, clear plastic bags containing marijuana residue and numerous
empty plastic bottles containing marijuana residue, according to the incident report.
