LARCHWOOD—A 39-year-old Harrisburg, SD, man was arrested Monday, Jan. 13, on a charge of third-degree theft at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort northwest of Larchwood.
The arrest of Dustin Vincent Fodness stemmed from an investigation into his employment at the casino, according to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
Fodness was observed near midnight New Year’s Eve of taking money and putting it into his pocket while working the bar.
Casino policy prohibits tips from being collected by him or being put into his pockets, according to the DCI’s report.
The cash drawer was short at the end of his shift.
The DCI reported further tracking, review and audits of the register system and video show a minimum of $879 minimum was taken Dec. 21-31 by Fodness.
