BOYDEN—A 21-year-old rural Alvord man was arrested about 7:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, near Boyden on a charge of second-offense operating while under the influence.

The arrest of Brady Lee Koedam stemmed from him being clocked driving a 2010 Mazda Speed at 112 mph in a 55 mph zone on Kingbird Avenue, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

By the time the deputy turned around to initiate a stop, Koedam had pulled into a residential driveway on the 3300 mile of Kingbird, about two miles southeast of Boyden.

An open case of Busch Light was in the back seat of the vehicle, but Koedam denied drinking alcohol, according to the incident report. He said he had drank alcoholic beverages the night before at a wedding.

Koedam had bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary sobriety tests.
