HAWARDEN—Twenty-one children and a well behaved dog participated in the 2019 Labor Day Kids Parade on Sept. 2. The children were dressed in colorful costumes and had decorated their bicycles, wagons and scooters in very imaginative ways.
Levi Byker led off driving his “Monster Truck Darrington” followed by Ayden and Greyson Odens in their mobile “Toy Story” and Ian and Wyatt Green drove their “Future Truckers” entry. Next came Lucy Gregg, Pearl Gregg and Lavender Murdock riding their bicycles as “The Super Cousins Trio”. Gemma Harry walked as “Princess Elsa” while Jada Wegner-Mendoza was “Princess Bell” and Elana Wegner-Mendoza was “The Beast”. Andrew Zemanek portrayed “The Sheriff” while pulling Zane Zemanek in a wagon as the “Little Wise Owl”. Timothy Klompien walked his lawnmower advertising “Timothy’s Lawn Service” and Riley, Callie and Chloe Molenkamp showed their spirit with their “Go Yotes” entry.
The decorated bikes included Hailey Byker’s “Americorn”, Weston Ericson’s “Minnesota Viking” and Trentin Zemanek’s “An American Soldier”. Ashley Roel dressed as “Spiderman” and rode her scooter as the final entry.
Several of the parents commented on how much time and effort the kids put into making their entries shine. They did a great job and were treated to a juice pack and a trophy for making the Big Sioux River Days Kids Parade a fun event.
