Farmers Market in the Park hosts holiday event Dec. 4
For those lamenting the end of the farmers market season you’ve got one more chance to get your fix before the winter settles in.
Farmers Market in the Park traditionally takes place outdoors during the warm weather months at Arnolds Park Amusement Park, but for one special event they are moving inside.
They’ll be hosting a special Holiday Market event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Roof Garden Ballroom in Arnolds Park.
“We started the Holiday Market in 2019 after we had a huge demand to do the Farmers Market in the Park in the off season. We thought about doing it monthly but it was challenging logistically with our vendors. We opted instead for one big Holiday Market,” said Krissy Thiessen, the executive director of Farmers Market in the Park.
This will be the second Holiday Market as last year’s was canceled due to COVID-19.
The Holiday Market features many of the things that people enjoy about Farmers Market in the Park including a wide variety of vendors and live music, but this event has a distinct theme.
“The Holiday Market is our farmers market with a Christmas flair. We’ve got a lot of our familiar vendors along with some specialty holiday vendors. We will be indoors in the Roof Garden and Poiema Design is decorating for us,” Thiessen said.
“There will be 30 vendors, live Christmas music by She’s With Us, Santa from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with photography by Ethnee Jorgensen, holiday cocktails, food options, a gift wrapping station by Poiema Design and more.”
With 30 vendors there will surely be an opportunity to find unique gifts for people on your Christmas list.
“We have 30 vendors this year. We’ve got meat, produce, art, craftsmen items, fresh baked goods, and holiday specialty high quality craft items! Perfect opportunity to buy a unique Christmas gift,” Thiessen said.
In an effort to give back to the community, the Holiday Market entrance fee is either a canned food item, paper products or monetary donation all of which will go to local food shelters.
As they weren’t able to host the event last year, Thiessen is extra excited to be bringing this event back to the Iowa Great Lakes.
“Our goal for the Holiday Market is to give the vendors another opportunity to share their talents and goods with our community. It’s also the perfect opportunity to buy a unique locally made Christmas gift and get it wrapped,” Thiessen said. “I’m most looking forward to getting the community together to support our local vendors, gather supplies for the local food banks and enjoy the Christmas spirit!”
