Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp

Round Lake Vineyards & Winery hosts annual Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp on Saturday, Aug. 24

It’s not every day that you get to re-enact one of the most memorable scenes in television history.

But those who decide to participate in the annual Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp at Round Lake Vineyards & Winery on Saturday, Aug. 24, will have that chance.

Just like in a scene of “I Love Lucy,” participants will have the chance to roll up their pants or skirts and stomp some grapes.

There is room for 48 teams to participate in the grape stomp so make sure to register early to make sure you have your chance.

The event kicks off 11 a.m. and will run all day long through 9 p.m.

“This our biggest event of the year and is sure to be an experience that the entire family can enjoy. Last year we had over 1,200 people attend and can’t wait to see what this year has in store,” said Vanessa Moore, the marketing and brand manager for Round Lake Vineyards & Winery. “So bring the entire family for a day of fun with live music, delicious food and wine, outdoor games and of course the grape stomp competition!”

Everything will kick off with vendors, concessions and live music with Storm Rising.

At 11:30 a.m. there will be a yoga class by the lake and later at 2 p.m. the Grape Stomp and the Kids Stomp will get started. The grapes that will be stomped have been grown right on the property.

“We planted them just for this event. They are big and purple full of juice. We pick them the afternoon before and keep them cool for the day. Each two-person team is timed to stomp and collect the juice from 20 pounds of grapes in a barrel. The first team collecting two liters of juice in their heat will be the winner,” Moore said. “At the end of the day, the team with the quickest time will be named grand champion and hold bragging rights for the year! Each member of the top three quickest times will receive great prizes and every registered stomper gets a Round Lake Vineyards & Winery Grape Stomp T-shirt!”

In addition to the Grape Stomp in the afternoon there will also be some deluxe wine tastings, a behind the scenes walking tour of the winery, kids face painting and live music with Boon & Lambert and then the Shirts & Skins will take the stage.

It’s a day filled to the brim with all sorts of fun to enjoy.

“The atmosphere is very festival-like. People watching stomper teams, music on different stages and the food is amazing, fun and delicious. The chef will be preparing lamb and beef gyros, foot long corn dogs, Mexican Street corn, rib tips with red wine BBQ sauce and so many fun ice cream novelties! It is a great family-friendly event that is entertaining for all ages,” Moore said.
