Old Iron Company’s annual car show ready to roll on Aug. 9-10
Cars new and cars of old. Hot rods, trucks, motorcycles and more will cruise to East Leach Park as the Old Iron Company once again gets set to host its annual car show along the banks of the Little Sioux River.
Slated for Friday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 10, the show is welcome to anybody and everybody.
There are no classes and the top five entries are selected by a fan vote.
As Old Iron Company President Jason Manwarren puts it, “There’s a little bit of everything — a variety of new to old stuff. If it’s cool to you, it’s cool to us.”
The schedule is similar to recent years with a cruise-in, meet and greet and registration held Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. with hot dogs and all the fixings.
Saturday is when the big show gets started.
From 8 a.m. until noon will be continued registration, the show and shine car and motorcycle show, shopping and food vendors, games, silent auction, poker walk and music.
“It’s a really neat atmosphere. It’s a laid back Saturday with that park atmosphere along the bike trails where you can stroll along and look at all the different styles of cars,” Manwarren said.
Awards are announced in the afternoon.
In addition to the top five as selected by the attendees, there is a Mayor’s Choice Award, and possibly this year another winner as chosen by the Old Iron Company’s scholarship recipient.
Award-winners are treated to a photo shoot for their winning set of wheels and sent a poster-size copy.
As a nonprofit entity, the Old Iron Company donates every dollar earned through the event back to the community through charitable organizations and scholarship funds.
Classic cars, a day in the shade and plenty of fun and games. A satisfying summer Saturday in Spencer for the whole family.
