Sanborn packs full schedule for summer celebration
While a few events forged ahead last year, this time around the Railroad Days is packed full of family fun once again.
With one event on July 19 and then all kinds of activities on the schedule from July 22-25, this year’s celebration is sure to offer something for everyone to enjoy.
“We’re back this year and hoping to make it better than ever,” said Sanborn Chamber of Commerce president Laura Lux. “As a chamber we’re excited to be able to get back out and promote our businesses citywide and I know people around the area are just excited to get back out and have some fun.”
From 5Ks and Fun Runs to inflatables, free swimming and a vendor fair, all the familiar Railroad Days staples are in place.
“We pretty much keep with the same stuff each year so everyone who’s coming knows what they’re going to get,” Lux said. “The vendor fair at City Park, a bunch of people come in for that. We have the golf tournament, golf ball roll and then the street dance on Saturday night and Car Cruise on Sunday.”
The always popular parade is back downtown this year.
Commercial Chaos for Cure is also back this year with tractor and truck pulls, a light show, jake brake contest, poker run and a huge fireworks show is ready to go.
“They bring quite a crows and we’re excited to have them back,” Lux said. “It’s something different and they bring an extra flair for it too. That definitely brings a lot of people into town and we hope a ton of people visit this year. I know people are excited to be out and about doing things again.”
No matter what event tops the to-do list, there is plenty of fun to be had during Railroad Days and Lux hopes as many people as possible get out and have a good time.
“It’s always so much fun and family oriented and we need more of that right now. More time with our family, our kids, our friends, just hanging out and enjoying life together,” Lux said. “And this is a great way to do that and to support small local small town businesses and have a great, inexpensive weekend of fun.”
So hop on the train to Railroad Days.
A fun few days await at the Sanborn stop.
