… and a lot of rock ‘n’ roll
Rock ‘n’ roll with a side of comedy, or maybe the other way around.
No matter how you look at it, Jack Willhite’s Rock & Roll Comedy Show is sure to be an entertaining evening at The Gardens in Arnolds Park.
The concert gets underway at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 8, and there is no cover charge for those interested in seeing what’s described on www.jackwillhite.com as “a cross between Weird Al Yankovic and a classic rock tribute band.”
AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Prince, Cheap Trick and many more iconic acts get a unique twist from Willhite as he morphs from one famous musician to the next.
Multiple guitars are put to good use. Wigs, hats, fake beards and more is utilized to get Willhite into character as he rocks through hit after hit.
Don’t be surprised if crowd members are encouraged to get into the act as well.
“It’s supposed to be really high energy and really gets the crowd involved,” said Millisa Reynolds, operations manager for Parks Marina. “He has props and costumes, does quick changes and things like that. It’s something pretty new for us bringing in the comedy aspect. The Gardens always tries to have fun bands and always keep everyone involved. I think it’s just going to be something fun and different.” It’s also a great way for live music to start ramping up in the Iowa Great Lakes.
Stop by The Gardens and rock, laugh and roll your way to a good time with Jack Willhite.
