Sheldon firefighters check explosion call

The Sheldon Fire Co. was called at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, to a report of a loud explosion and fire in the backyard of a home at 322 W. 10th St. On arrival a small unattended fire was found in the backyard of that address. Firefighters put out the fire. Eighteen firefighters as well as the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team responded to the call. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour. The fire remains under investigation by the Sheldon Police Department.
