HULL—The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of Manuel Ramirez Torres, 45, Hull, about 11 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, on a charge of first-offense operating while under the influence and no valid driver’s license.
According to court document, a deputy was at the Casey’s in Hull responding to another complaint when Ramirez Torres pulled up to the gas pumps in a 2004 Ford Expedition.
Ramirez Torres then entered the store and attempt to purchase two six-packs of beer, but the cashier refused to sell them to him because he could not provide identification.
The deputy thought there might be a language barrier so he stepped up to help Ramirez Torres understand what the cashier was saying.
Ramirez Torres smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. Ramirez Torres then returned to his vehicle, but the deputy arrested him before he could drive off.
