HULL—A Boyden teenager faces several charges following an investigation into a disturbance that occurred on Sunday, Jan. 6, at Casey’s General Store in Hull.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of 18-year-old Brandon Lee Vander Plaats about 11:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7.
According to court documents, upon further investigation, authorities determined Vander Plaats entered Casey’s at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday and became involved in a confrontation with a female.
Vander Plaats was told several times that if he was not going to buy anything that he needed to leave the store. He did not buy anything and would not leave.
When another customer inside the business confronted him, Vander Plaats left the store by shoving the door open to the extent that it swung and hit a light on the outside of the building, cracking the glass in the door.
Vander Plaats was charged with trespassing, third-degree harassment and disorderly conduct.
